Do You Want The Best? You Must Give Up Very Good In Order To Get It!

You must be able to give up the very good in order to receive the best.

Satan will offer you something you might think is an opportunity of a lifetime in order to keep you from getting the best God has to offer you.

It requires you to pass up any other offers and wait on God to bring about every circumstance in his perfect timing. He can always see the big picture, and knows when His Great Plan will fall into place.

It is true that you will have to learn patience and maybe even wait a while for His Best to come to pass in your life. You might even feel that you should have taken the lesser thing, because you know that by now you could at least see some progress instead of just waiting.

I know how it feels to wait on God for something. You feel as if you are sitting around and doing nothing of real importance. Then you start to think of how things might be going now if you had gone ahead and settled for the very good thing.

At least you would be accomplishing something and you would be able to see some progress. When you are waiting for the best, it is easy to think that others are far surpassing you. Satan will always be happy to keep your mind filled with thoughts such as this.

The truth is you are not just waiting in vain; God is sharpening and refining you to be better than you ever thought you were capable of being.

God calls you and then He prepares you to do the job. In His infinite wisdom, He starts to convict you of anything in your life that will keep you from having what He desires for you. This conviction time might seem like you are taking several steps backward, but it is something that must be done. All your fleshly junk must be removed so the Holy Spirit can fill that spot and control that part of your life.

Eventually, if you allow it, He can then be the CEO and use you to accomplish great things for the Kingdom. You have gotten all the junk out so God can work through you to accomplish what He desires.

In the end, getting God’s Best is far greater than anything you could ever imagine. You can have peace and joy knowing that you are walking in the center of His Will. What an awesome feeling!

Your Belief System – Does It Make You An Honest Or Dishonest Person?

To believe in something and not live it is dishonest.
-Mohandas K. Ghandi-

We all have a belief system that has been engrained in us from birth. Throughout the childhood years it is greatly influenced by our parents, grandparents, and other extended family members.

As we grow older, our friends can sometimes have more influence over us than our parents; just how much depends on the time we spend with those friends and how much we desire to get away from the teachings of our parents.

As an adult, we start to develop our own beliefs. Generally they are a mesh of what we have been taught as children, the influences our peers had on us, and conclusions we have made after sorting everything out.

After your belief system has become fully established, it becomes a part of you and an unwritten code you live by.

The problem starts when something happens that shakes you at your very foundation. Your code has been violated, and you must decide what mode of action you will take. Maybe up until now that code has never really been challenged or threatened, but if you don’t stand up for your beliefs you will be dishonest to yourself.

That is why it is so important to have a strong system and one that you can stand for at all costs. Otherwise you will be one of those people who go along with the masses and will never truly stand up and be counted for anything worthwhile.

God can help you have a belief system that goes along with what the Bible says. You will be engrained in the truth, and it will be much easier to stand for what is right when the time comes. Nobody wants to find out they have wasted much of their life believing in something that wasn’t true.

In addition, God will give you immense strength and courage at the exact time you need it. You never have to do anything alone when He is on your side.

Even if you have to make some drastic changes, you will have the wonderful assurance that now you are living in the truth and know He will give you the boldness to stand when the time is right.

Every person faces a time such as this at some point. Never be dishonest with yourself because you are the first person you will have to face each morning. It can really eat at the core of your being if you are pretending to be somebody you are not.

Let the root of your belief system be grounded in God and His Word, the Bible. He will never lead you wrong, and at the end of the day you can have the assurance that everything you have accomplished has truly counted for something eternally good.

Blaze A New Path With God Leading The Way!

Do not go where the path may lead; go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.

-Ralph Waldo Emerson-

It is very easy to follow a certain path when others have already done the hard work of cutting down the trees and bushes to clear it. All you have to do is walk in the ruts and you won’t have to do any of the hard work. You can blindly follow and not worry much about getting lost.

If you take the other way and blaze a path yourself, it will definitely be harder and require much more faith on your part, especially if you let God lead the way. But it will be the most exciting and emotional time you have ever experienced.

It is not easy in this world we live in today to stay focused on God and not look at all the things around you. It seems He always wants you to do the impossible, forge into the unknown, or do something that seems way too hard to even attempt.

The only way you can do it is to keep your eyes focused on Him. You cannot look at the things around you and be taken in by them and then have God use you to do great things for the advancement of His Kingdom.

He wants you to trust Him to see the big picture and lead you in the right direction. He knows your capabilities and wants to stretch and grow you further than you ever thought possible.

He knows you do not have the capability to see the end results, so His Plan is for you to trust Him enough to follow Him completely. It is amazing how we are too afraid to put our life in God’s Hands, but we will go to extremes to follow another human leader.

It is true that you can more clearly see the direction of a human leader, but that is not the way God works. He wants to give you directions step by step and then he expects you to be obedient to carry them out. Sometimes He will tell you the end result and sometimes He will not, but He still expects obedience on your part.

To obey Him is simply to do what He desires when He desires it – nothing more and nothing less. Don’t make life too complicated by trying to figure things out on your own.

Trust, try, and prove God and see what great things He can accomplish through you!

A minister told his congregation, “Next week I plan to preach about the sin of lying. To help you understand my sermon, I want you all to read Mark 17.”

The following Sunday, as he prepared to deliver his sermon, the minister asked for a show of hands. He wanted to know how many had read Mark 17. Every hand went up. The minister smiled and said, “Mark has only sixteen chapters. I will now proceed with my sermon on the sin of lying.”

Two Little Boys

After a hardy rainstorm filled all the potholes in the streets and alleys, a young mother watched her two little boys playing in the puddles through her kitchen window. The older of the two, a five year old lad, grabbed his sibling by the back of his head and shoved his face into the water hole.

As the boy recovered and stood laughing and dripping, the mother ran to the yard in a panic. ‘Why on earth did you do that to your little brother?!’ she asked as she shook the older boy in anger. ‘We were just playing ‘church’ mommy,’ he said. ‘I was just baptizing him…..in the name of the Father, the Son and in…the hole-he-goes. ‘

A Powerful Story

Bats out of Hell

Mitsuo Fuchida, commander of the Japanese Air Force, led the squadron of 860 planes that attacked Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941.

American bomber Jacob DeShazer was eager to strike back, and the following April 18th, he flew his B-25 Bomber, the Bat out of Hell, on a dangerous raid over Japan. After dropping his bombs on Nagoya, DeShazer lost his way in heavy fog and ejected as his plane ran out of fuel.

He was taken prisoner, tortured by the Japanese, and threatened with imminent death. For almost two years, DeShazer suffered hunger, cold, and dysentery.

In May of 1944, he was given a Bible. “You can keep it for three weeks,” said the guard. DeShazer grabbed it, clutched it to his chest, and started reading in Genesis. Scarcely sleeping, he read the Bible through several times, memorizing key passages. On June 8, after reading Romans 10: 9, Jacob prayed to receive Jesus Christ as his Savior.

Immediately Matthew 5: 44 became a critical text for DeShazer as he determined to treat his Japanese guards differently. His hostility toward them evaporated, and every morning he greeted them warmly. He prayed for them and sought to witness to them. He noticed their attitude toward him also changed, and they would often slip him food or supplies.

After the war, DeShazer returned to Japan as a missionary. Copies of his testimony, “I was a Prisoner of the Japanese,” flooded the country, and thousands wanted to see the man who could love and forgive his enemies. DeShazer settled down to establish a church in Nagoya, the city he had bombed.

One man in particular, deeply affected by DeShazer’s testimony, was led to Christ by Glenn Wagner of the Pocket Testament League. Shortly afterward, the man paid a visit to Jacob DeShazer at his home, and the two became dear friends and brothers. It was Mitsuo Fuchida, who had led the Pearl Harbor attack. As DeShazer served as missionary in Japan, Fuchida became a powerful evangelist, preaching throughout Japan and around the world.

The Law of the Garbage Truck

This is the attitude I want to have when others try to dump their garbage on me. I love this story because it helps me continue to realize that I don’t have to let others bring me down. I have a choice as to how I will respond to anything that happens each day. This is an awesome read.

**********************************

One day I hopped in a taxi and we took off for the airport. We were driving in the right lane when suddenly a black car jumped out of a parking space right in front of us.

My taxi driver slammed on his brakes, skidded, and missed the other car by just inches! The driver of the other car whipped his head around and started yelling at us. My taxi driver just smiled and waved at the guy. And I mean, he was really friendly.

So I asked, “Why did you just do that? That guy almost ruined your car and sent us to the hospital!”

This is when my taxi driver taught me what I now call, “The Law of the Garbage Truck.”

He explained that many people are like garbage trucks. They run around full of garbage — frustration, anger, disappointment. As their garbage piles up, they need a place to dump it and sometimes they’ll dump it on you.

Don’t take it personally. Just smile, wave, wish them well, and move on.

Don’t take their garbage and spread it to other people at work, at home, or on the streets.

The bottom line is that successful people do not let garbage trucks take over their day. Love the people who treat you right. Pray for the ones who don’t.

Life is ten percent what you make it and ninety percent how you take it!

Sin In The Midst Of The Camp

This is an excerpt from a sermon given by Charles Spurgeon. It certainly makes you think about why the Church as a whole doesn’t have much power for Godly change in the world we live in today.

Joshua might have gone from city to city exterminating the nations, as they justly deserved to be, but Achan had taken of the accursed thing and hidden it in his tent, therefore no victory could be won by Israel till his theft and sacrilege had been put away. Beloved, this is symbolic of the Christian Church. We might go from victory to victory; our home mission operations might be successful, and our foreign agencies might be crowned with triumph, if it were not that we have Achans in the camp at home.

When Churches have no conversions, it is more than probable that hypocrites concealed among them have turned away the Lord’s blessing. You who are inconsistent, who make the profession of religion the means of getting wealth, you who unite yourselves with God’s people, but at the same time covet the goodly Babylonish garment, and the wedge of gold, you are those who cut the sinews of Zion’s strength; you prevent the Israel of God from going forth to victory. Ah! little do we know, beloved, how Satan has hindered us. We, as a Church, have had much reason to thank God, but how many more might within these walls have been added to the number of this Church if it had not been for the coldness of some, the indifference of others, the inconsistency of a few, and the worldliness of many more! Satan hinders us not merely by direct opposition, but by sending Achans into the midst of our camp.
